I'm shocked that your purchase didn't totally please (that will be the extent of my sarcasm). I have been wondering about that box all night, but at least I noticed it. I enjoyed your time making those recipes. They were great fun to look at, and I assume to eat.
I was delighted to see you noticed the box - then perplexed as you mention enjoying looking at the food but not eating it… four months where your dinner had faces on it and you remember. Plus ca change mon amore.
My children, who are now in their mid to late twenties, loved Big Cook Little Cook. But I don't remember trying out the recipes. For my part I think I spent far too much time cooking food for my kids from scratch - all that Annabel Karmel pureeing things and freezing them in ice cubes. There must be a happy medium.
There is definitely a happy medium! As there is with most things really - I mixed and matched and cheated and just did what I had to get by and keep us both healthy - good enough I reckon.
BCLC wasn’t in my kid’s day (he’s 32) - we were pingu fans, no cooking involved there either!
In our house Pingu meant popcorn! I always had to put a bit more in the pan than was sensible - it was absolutely essential that it overflowed like it did in the Pingu household.
This is such a good piece, Betty. Am so glad you are amplifying this appalling issue too! And you are spot on about how terrible it is that parents trust baby food, thinking it's been made for the good of their baby, and in reality, it's for the good of some Giant's profit.
And love your description of online clothes shopping!
