Really appreciate the honesty about January not feeling like any kind of fresh start. Seems like everyone pushes this reinvention narrative but lik you said, its literaly just the next day, same weather, same everything. I remember trying to launch a side project in early Jan a few years back and it took twice as long because my brain was still in hybernation mode. The squash lentil combo sounds perfect for that exact mood.

I think new year should be when the first shoots of spring appear, or snow drops specifically! Although that’s different around the world of course. My head explodes when I start examining time and the fact that it’s really just a human construct. If was possible to lean into our inner dormouse I think we would all be much healthier.

That said, happy new year!

As flagged on a re-stack…now lost amongst many others…

Anyway, I read a couple of observations about NY that in part chime with yours…

Here's one Elizabeth... with some useful dates attached, albeit not the one I had in mind....

Here's the one I thought of with some interesting history... and I couldn't agree more with the writers statement...

"January is not a time for beginnings. It is not a time for initiative or turning over a new leaf. It’s not even an enjoyable time to have a party. Too dark, too cold. This is the time to hibernate, not change a damn thing, stay the course, survive, eat stew, snuggle, sleep."
